Date events are a central part of college life, especially for the Panhellenic community, spirit organizations, and other campus groups. These social events provide valuable opportunities to forge new relationships and bond as a community. Members prefer to invite a date with whom they share a potential romantic or friendship connection to make the most of these valuable networking opportunities.

However, members face numerous challenges when searching for a “plus one,” such as last-minute date planning, difficulty finding compatible matches, and limited social interaction with members from different Greek chapters or spirit orgs. As busy college students, members often resort to attending solo or skipping the event altogether if they do not have time to meet a potential date in everyday life.

Or, members may be set up with a “friend of a friend” with whom they are not compatible, making for a long and uncomfortable evening. These obstacles lead to frequent missed opportunities to feel an authentic and genuine connection with similar-valued peers, reduced participation in date events, and barriers to strengthening relations between Greek or other groups on campus.
